Purification Process of Xtend-Life Fish Oil

The following diagram shows the steps that are taken to produce the ultra pure Xtend-Life fish oil. You will note that only 10% of the original oil is retained and that 90% is discarded.

The purification process that Xtend-Life uses is a ‘gentle’ form of molecular distillation carried out in a vacuum with no exposure to light. A solvent is used as part of the process. However, we only use the safe food grade form of ethanol of which there is no residual component left in the oil. Unfortunately, because of cost some manufacturers use hexane as a solvent when distilling which can remain as a residual component of the oil.  We no not use hexane which has a questionable safety profile.

‘Normal’ fish oil which is not molecularly distilled only goes through one filtration process and is then encapsulated. Very little is discarded.
